The name Intervallo means “the in between” — a nod to the Italian tradition of aperitivo, that golden moment between lunch and dinner when you meet friends, share small plates, sip a negroni (or two) and just… slow down together.
My client, Alessandra, approached me with an exciting brief: to create a distinctly original space. She envisioned an interior that would stand out along Deptford High Street through bold use of colour and a uniquely characterful atmosphere, while still feeling intimate, relaxed, and joyful. She also had one non-negotiable request—the bathroom needed to be truly memorable—an ideal challenge for any designer.
Inspiration was drawn from mid-century Italian bars, especially those found in the coastal towns Alessandra visited when she was younger, but reimagined them through a modern lens — avoiding cliché, while still keeping that authentic Italian flavour.
